What is the proper way to adjust the brace?

The proper process in making the initial adjustment to the brace is:

  • Put the brace on along with your helmet.
  • Adjust the suspension strap so there is a minimum of ½ inch gap between the strap and the top plate. To increase the gap, tighten the strap (increase the number), to reduce the gap, loosen the strap (decrease the number).
  • Next, in a riding position, check the mobility (front, back and side to side).
  • Now, make sure you are able to look left and right without restrictions.
  • Reduce the gap between the brace and the bottom of the helmet until there is as little gap possible while still having good mobility.
  • If you need more mobility looking forward or backward, adjust the top plate with the adjusting bolts.
  • Make sure the brace is centered on your upper body then buckle and snug the mid strap. Now snug the back and front straps. By taking the time to do this procedure, the brace will stay in the proper position while riding.
  • Once you have made the initial adjustment, you will only need to make micro adjustments. We recommend you know your number setting on the adjustment straps in case someone tries on your brace and makes a change. Be sure the numbers are always the same on both sides. This will keep the brace level on your body.
  • For additional information on adjustments, please see the Omega Brace User’s Manual.

Do I need to use the straps with the brace.

We recommend you always use the included straps. This will help keep the brace in the proper position during a crash.

Can I use the Omega brace with a chest protector?

Yes, the Omega is compatible with most chest protectors. We recommend the Zero7 chest protectors because of the range of adjustability. If you are going to use a chest protector, all you need to do is remove the two plastic springs on the front of the brace. The chest protector will slide between the front arms and the top plate.

Does the Omega brace require any maintenance?

Besides keeping your brace clean, you should check to be sure the four 5mm bolts are snug. Keep in mind that the front bolts should be tight and the rear bolts should only be snug so the brace can fold for storage.

What is the best way to clean my Omega brace?

The most efficient way to clean the brace is by wetting it down and applying a small amount of a mild detergent such as Simple Green. Rub it down with a wet cloth or sponge and rinse it with clean water. Be sure to completely dry the brace before storing it to help prevent mildew. Do not clean your brace with contact cleaner, bleach or any other harsh detergent. By doing so, you will damage your brace.
